AFCAT 1 2014 Date

Indian Air Force organizes this examination for selection of male as well as female aspirants as Officers in all the branches of IAF. Separate notifications are issued for Men and women. Commissioning is done in the three main wings of Air Force that are given below according to Men and women and Shot service commission (SSC) or Permanent commission (PC). AFCAT Online Application form

Candidates have to apply online for AFCAT through official website www.careerairforce.nic.in of Indian Air Force. They must have a valid email id to apply for the batches of training. When aspirants register themselves on this website, registration number and passwords get generated, through which they are able to apply for AFCAT Examination. AFCAT written Exam pattern

Those possessing the requisite eligibility can appear in this exam which is quite scoring and simple. However written test should not be take lightly. Written test patter comprise of

  • Questionnaire has objective type multiple choice questions
  • Total 100 questions to be solved in this paper
  • Each question carries 3 marks
  • Negative marking with 1 mark deductable for each wrong answer
  • Candidates are allowed 2 hours to answer this question paper

AFCAT Examination Syllabus:

AFCAT exam paper is based on the topic explained below:

  • General Awareness syllabus includes subjects like Current Affairs, Defence, History, Geography, Civics, Sports, Basic Science, Environment, Politics, Art, and Culture.
  • Verbal ability in English will examine knowledge of English with respect to Comprehension, Synonyms, Antonyms, Error Detection, Vocabulary Evaluation, and Sentence Completion.
  • Numerical Ability paper will cover Decimal, Fraction, Simplification, Average, Profit & Loss, Simple Interest, Ratio, and Proportion.
  • Reasoning and Military Aptitude tests verbal skills along with spatial ability.

AFACT Eligibility according to Branches (Men and women)

Eligibility Criteria Flying Branch:

  1. Candidates must have age between 19 and 23 years to apply in this branch.
  2. Graduates of any discipline/ B.E. / B. Tech can apply for AFCAT if they have scored minimum aggregate of 60% in all subjects.
  3. Minimum height required for candidates is 162.5 cms and weight should be proportionate to this height.

Eligibility Criteria Technical Branch:

  1. Age of the applicants to this branch should be in the bracket of 18 and 28 years.
  2. Technical Branch is sub divided into two wings, Electronics and Mechanical. Candidates having 4 years B.E./ B. Tech from a recognized institute or having cleared Section A and B of AMIE India/ Aeronautical Society India/ Graduate Membership exam of Institute of Mechanical/ Electronics and Telecom Engineers, can apply.
  3. While minimum height required for males is 157.5 cms, it is 152 cms for females. Weight of candidates has to be correlated to this height.

Eligibility Criteria Ground Duty Branches:

Candidature Qualifications Age limit of Candidates
Graduates 20 years to 23 years
Post Graduates/ LLB 20 years to 25 years
3 years LLB 20 years to 26 years
M. Ed/ Ph D/ CA/ ICWA 20 years to 27 years
  • In Administrative & Logistics division, Graduation with 60% aggregate marks or Post Graduation/ equivalent with 50% aggregate in any discipline.
  • In Accounts Branch, B. Com with 50% minimum aggregate or M. Com/ CA/ ICWA with minimum 50% aggregate marks in all subjects.
  • In Education branch, Post graduation Degree with minimum 50% marks aggregated for all papers is required.
  • For Ground Duty branch, minimum height required for male candidates is 157.5 cms and for females it is 152 cms. Weight should be proportionate to the height of candidates.

Note: Age of candidates will be calculated as on 01 January 2015

Post Examination Selection Procedure:

AFCAT is the first step towards joining Indian Air Force. Candidates qualifying this examination will have to appear for other tests and interviews which are conducted by AFSB. Candidates will be judged under three stages for final selection. Aspirants who have applied for Flying Branch have to appear for PABT or Pilot Aptitude Battery Test additionally for their commissioning.

Training after selection

  • Training is scheduled to commence in the first week of January 2015 for all courses.
  • The duration of training for Flying and Technical Branches is 74 weeks and that of Ground
  • Duty Branches is 52 weeks at Air Force Training Establishments.
